Filmistaan - Jai Cinema Ki
The story that seems so simple has such a profound impact
and message that leaves you wanting more. Sunny (Sharib Hashmi) is a movie buff
and in an attempt to shoot a documentary heads over to the line of control. The
abduction followed by the discussions between him and Aftaab (Inaamulhaq)
leaves you spellbound. This is the first time Nitin Kakkar put on the
Director's Hat and sat on the seat, and it is indisputable that this master
created something that's worth the watch every time.
Sharib and Inaamulhaq along with Kumud Mishra came together
for this film, and they were again for the critically acclaimed Nakkash that
released a week ago. Their association for Filmistaan left the cinema buffs
wanting more. It shouldn't surprise anyone that the trio has delivered again
and while it was a different director for the movie last week the trio is
always providing feathers to some commendable characters on the screen.
Filmistaan talks about the most tormented relationship
between two neighboring nations keeping the love for films in the center stage.
The three actors in the movie are definitely class apart in their portrayal of
the characters as well as the mental and physical state due to the ongoing
troubles.
Nitin proved with his debut movie that he can deliver
masterpieces and the writer turned actors showcased that they can't just write
with the pen and paper but also deliver the words in front of the camera. While
we do talk about these actors, there are few others that deserve equal mention.
Gopal Dutt was brilliant in his portrayal of Jawwad, and it was his portrayal
of a person with conflict as well as commitment towards the purpose that left
people wanting more from him.
One of his memorable dialogues from the movie that everyone
may remember is when Sunny asks Jawaad on why he went this way. His response
was,'Nayi Kameej to mil gai, par uski keemat main aaj bhi chuka raha hoon.'
Only a person with a golden arm like Sharib can write such
heart touching and thought-provoking dialogues. The movie was a perfect
combination of what happens when people work with heart, passion and the will
to deliver something exemplary to the audience.
If you are a movie buff like us, these words from the movie
will always resonate with you: 'Drama Shrama Kar Lo Ji, Ye to Filmistaan hai
Ji.'
