Life is never fair, and never will be, Savi Sidhu's story confirms it to be
Lights, Camera, Forgotten!
Now before you start thinking that we have forgotten the most catchy and trendy phrase in the entire show business, we can affirm that the same isn't the case. We know it, and strongly believe in it, because action commences as the clap happens, but is this clap always the case, for all.
We bring this thing into question as recently we were introduced to Savi Sidhu who worked with Anurag Kashyap in notable films like Paanch, Black Friday and Gulaal to name a few. The actor then turned obscure because the personal and health issues took a toll on him, and unlike other struggling actors, he was filled with work, but health denied him the opportunity to work.
After subsequent deaths in family of close and dear ones the actor felt left out, and had it not been Film Companion Hindi, we would have never known the gem that the performer has been. While all the glitz and glamour, as well as shutterbugs run after the people in media, and those that can sell their page 3 segments, the quality content and actors are mostly forgotten.
He isn't the first person that went into such a state, veteran actor and freedom fighter A.K. Hangal had to live the last few years of his life absolutely alone, and while his counterparts were booming and blossoming, none of them decided to pay him a visit.
A lot of photographs of Mr. AB and King Khan keep doing the rounds when they meet veteran Dilip Kumar, but there was least to no input provided when Lagaan's wicket keeper actor Shri Vallabh Vyas was in dire need of medical attention and momey, no one helped him, except for Aamir Khan, but the great performer couldn't be saved.
He isn't the only one that had this fate. A. K. Hangal had the same fate and so did Mahesh Anand who was left to fend for self. While A.K. Hangal was a freedom fighter, and had worked with legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra in Sholay, the actor didn't have enough money to provide for his medical bills or needs.
The most shocking name in this list is Kader Khan. The writer-actor, an all round performer moved from being a teacher to gracing the film fraternity with his wit. The actor was never looked by his fellow actors and friends in times of dire need as he approached his last.
This also raises a question that unlike other businesses in the world where people get money to suffice for their needs, or in other countries the govt. provides a specific amount to help people move forward. Why is the biggest industry with so much glamour and style left out, and lets actors fend for themselves. It is important for all to have an artist card to provide for self but in times of trouble, it's a no show. Why?
Shouldn't the artist association work in accordance to provide people with the actors needs and also ensure that they are in good health. With so many actors in every part of the city, there must be norms on how people can strive to be of value, and how the associations can ensure they continue to chase their dream and live happy and healthy for good.
