#MeToo has unearthed the grim reality of our society

#MeToo is actually termed as a campaign by the media; however
it isn’t a campaign but actually a look into the grim reality of our society.
Our world is focused around looking at women as a means of pleasure, or
stalking, and even abusing. The world has moved ahead from the 70’s and while
we may consider ourselves as a modern society, we are still living in those old
days where women are considered otherwise.
Our world has changed, but the revelations coming out
everyday have shocked us. From famous names including politicians like M.J.
Akbar to recently accused Anu Malik, the harassment saga continues to open up
every day. This movement started after Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of
sexual abuse, and has been confined to the B-Town right now, we can be rest
assured that if other segments of work and business start raising their voices,
we may see a lot of names under the scanner and many legacies broken.
Today Barkha Dutt took a dive at some prominent names due to
their reaction to #MeToo, but let’s understand that whether someone wants to
stand with or against the ongoing campaign, this fact can never be neglected
that our society has seen a lot of such movements, and a lot has gone down in
vain. After Damini happened, a lot of protests took place and commissions were
placed but the end result is still at the same level where it all started :
zero.
The moment we change our mindset to anything around us, the
situations around us change, and the same applies to #MeToo too. If we start
valuing women as an integral part of society more than the other gender and
sexual part to it, the things shall change.
In wake of the ongoing movement, a member of
the film fraternity stated her point in the most poised way, and we wanted to
bring it to you.
