Why every subject based movie like 'Ram Ki Janmabhoomi' is opposed in India?
'Ram Janmbhoomi' is a movie slated for release on the 29th of March, and even before the movie could see rhe light of the day, controversies surrounding the movie have started to show up. Recently a fatwa against the movie was issued, and the fact that people decided to issue a fatwa without knowing the facts confirms two things, one that people are ready to believe into controversy, and second that they don't get to the facts, and believe in hyping things without value.
I recently had the opportunity to speak to a reliable source who has been associated with it in various ways, namely actor in a supporting and various backstage roles, noted that the movie is based on a discussion and the representation of the characters doesn't hurt the sentiments of anyone, instead it initiates a conversation, which is the essence of a country where people can discuss and talk about issues.
After the discussion, I was left to ponder over the fact that we have been so loosened up in our approach and our feelings are so fragile that they get hurt with any and everything. While there are situations where feelings may get hurt, the fact that we don't know the truth, the whole truth and nothing else but the truth, pertaining to this movie.
We still believe that issuing a fatwa is in our own right, and we can do it, raises questions on how far have we taken the right to speech and the right to condemn anything for no good reason.
It puts things into jeopardy because if the films will be governed by religious or caste bodies, and we would need to create movies based on there wish, then we have a dark future in the film scene in time.
We need to stand against these groups and people, that have always caused issues for movies in the past, now, and will do so in the future.
I wish to hear your thoughts, or you can also share the same with me on Twitter.
