3 reasons why Village Rockstars is a treat for cinema lovers

Village Rockstars is a 2017 Indian Assamese language movie that recently caught everyone’s attention due to it being India's official entry to 91st Academy Awards. Rima Das is the mind, body and soul behind this movie as she wrote, directed and edited the movie before sending it out to the public.

The movie was awarded the Best Feature Film award at 65th National Film awards, and also got acclaim at Jio MAMI Film Festival 2017 due to its great content. The movie was a hit between fans and has wooed audiences worldwide. Toronto International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival and other world festivals considered it as an Official selection to their prestigious list, and we can't deny that they made the choice.

The movie is a wonderful demonstration of many emotions, but in this article I shall take a look at 3 reasons why this movie deserves the praise it got:

#3 Performances

The work done by the actors is truly commendable and you can’t do anything else but love the simplicity with which the movie has been told. The life, struggles and prejudices by the mother, daughter, son and other fellow members is easily understandable and has been depicted beautifully.

#2 Writing

The backbone to any movie is writing and the movie has been written beautifully by Rima Das who is a self made filmmaker. The beauty of the script is her attention to detail and how she portrays the journey, and the dilemmas. It is so beautiful to see her showcase a story that is close to heart and so precise.

#1 Cinematography

Even before you think of writing you must think of what will be showcased and how. The cinematography is of extreme importance to give every scene the visual impact and effect it needs, and this movie has been able to showcase it with absolute precision. It is important that we look into the visual display and enjoy the work.
