3 reasons why Habib Tanvir is the best playwright and Theatre Director



There are people that leave a mark which can never be replicated, and this picture above is one such moment. Two stalwarts Balraj Sahni and Habib Tanvir can be seen in the picture above and it is no surprise that the two were considered the best in their field of business.

While Balraj Ji did movies and theatre as well, Habib Tanvir Ji took on theatre and revolutionized it with his adaption of plays or his own set of plays. There are some that are still relevant and are staged by veteran and known theatre artists and directors every other day. The great performer was seen in many movies, but this is the most notable one.

#3 Direction



Habib Sir’s direction is known for creating compelling performances on stage, and if it didn’t feel right, it wasn’t right. He is known for his work on stage both as a director and as an actor. His work left everlasting memory in both actor and audience’s mind, and that is one of the reasons why he is still loved by fans as well as theatre goers. 

No matter what age group you may be in, if you are a theatre lover, chances are you would have stumbled onto Habib Ji’s work either as a playwright or as a writer/director.


#2 Writer



Habib Tanvir wrote things that can be called as an adaptation of of Bertolt, Shakespeare and other classics, but the great writer also wrote some great plays that are his own. From Agra Bazaar to Charandas Chor, his work is loved by people of all ages, and they never seem to go off time, because they are still relevant.

This video is a rare gem because you not only get to see the legend share the stage with some equally talented performers, but also see his work on stage. The writer,actor,director was known for performing his role to perfection, and if you see this rare video you may get a glimpse of what I am saying.
