5 reasons why Ramayan can be re-created but never duplicated
Doordarshan was once called out for fun and people were referred with the same name for being either too old or slow, but times have changed and it's 2020 now. The world faced a pandemic in corona virus and Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan' hit the TV screens. The announcement came as a new life for those that have enjoyed the over the top representation in web series and others.
It isn't new for us as viewers to reject or accept a show instantly but this was a different time all together. We don't have the liberty of stepping out, and all the shows seem so eerie because we are too involved in the luxury of life that we thought of giving this 90's gem another time and run on TV.
There have been various re-creations of this epic show but none have come even close to the original, and while some may be of the opinion that in this fast paced world things like the new ones seem real, not the old 90's show. Surprise, we love this re-run now and have to say that this Ramayan can be re-created and never duplicated.
I list down my reasons why this Ramayan is still fresh as good ol' days and welcome your thoughts in the comments section for the readers' kind perusal. So without further ado, let's get down to it:
#1 The First Move Advantage
The first move advantage has made some of the biggest companies in the world what they are today, and the same can also be applied to Ramayan. This series was the first that showcased Tulsidas Ji's 'Ramcharitmanas' in a visual format and with the elegance it required. It left an indelible mark on the viewers and the film fraternity as well which has not been replicated since then.
#2 The USP
Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan' was not just an episode that aired on TV and that was the end of it. This wasn't the time when actors did their work and the channels waited for their TRP's to see how they performed. The directors of the current episodes or series of any mythological work hardly put their inputs in place and rely on the writers and that is where the issue lies.
You can clearly see in the video above that Ramanand Sagar Ji used to interact with the audience after the running minutes of the show. It created a bond that is irreplaceable.
#3 The Interactions
As can be seen in the video above, Arun Govil Ji clearly talks about his journey while being subtle and is grounded in his interactions. This wasn't just the case with him because there are others too from the series that had amazing interactions during the days. They enjoyed their off screen persona as much as they did during their on screen work. An interview with Deepika Chikhalia Ji from the days is also an example of how people should carry themselves.
The advent of Social Media may seem like a reason for some to break their cocoon of a character but these two interviews are a prime example of how anyone can manage their life both on and off screen with ease and grace.
#4 Character Depiction
While I could have talked about the show and put a video of the episode from the show, I wanted to talk about how the characters were surprised about their own work and this video is a prime example of it. Arvind Trivedi Ji plays the role of Raavan in the show and he can be seen immersed in the work to the extent that he folds his hands knowing that he depicted something that was unethical. It is simplicity of the actors that makes us their fans.
Also, if you were to look at the show, every character had its own arc and they didn't try to hype the other one or steal other's spotlight. The baritone of every character was on point whether it be Raavan's, Vibhishan's or Lord Ram and Mata Sita. The work by all including King Dasrath aur the saints had the absolute tonality that was required for the role.
#5 Memories
It is a given that things that connect with us since our childhood remain with us till our last, and this is one show that has so many memories that we resonate with or remember those and compare them with our current state to understand how far we have come over the years.
The memories and this behind the scenes video is enough to entice you to watch it on a weekly basis.
