Cobra Post recently revealed during their sting operation how Bollywood Celebrities can write anything on their social media platforms for some amount of money. While the same isn’t new, because as a Social Media person, I am aware of Influencer marketing, and this entire campaign wanted to expose the malpractices going on in the field of Social Media.

There are times when accounts without a real face or a real name start sending tweets favoring a political party, politician or state, as well as raise their voice on some concerns or spread hoax news. The use of social media has both facets, and while some try to use it to raise good concerns, some others try to spread lies and talk trash through their profiles and pages. This implies to maligning someone’s image through their tweets or posts, and the same has been the root cause behind some of the most valued and varied influencers voicing their opinion on social media platforms.

With this is already a confirmed thing, this expose by Cobra Post raises concerns if we should really value a specific individual’s opinion on politics, along with other topics, because if the celebrities that have been caught on camera can do so, a common man can definitely find any offer lucrative and will be ready to voice their opinion.

It also raises concerns if we should talk to people that ask us something out of the blue because anything and everything can be under the scanner and caught on camera. With the likes of Ameesha Patel, Vivek Oberoi, and Shakti Kapoor to name a few being caught on camera in this malpractice, it is an easy thing to understand that nothing in the world of social media is real, and can be framed instantly. We know the users to some extent and can’t really confirm if the same is true, or being written to support a specific person in lieu of some money.

A great lesson that’s been learned here is, ‘Better prevent and prepare, than repent and repair.’
